Lets see a show of hands from the people who had failures with new lifter trays and preload set to ~.050".

LS7's have replaced LS1's. LS1's are no longer available.

My preload with CRL's is right about .100 depending whether you check exhaust or intake. At one point I had 3 boxes of those lifters trying to find some that were not cracked before installation. Kind of a scary deal when I read what has gone here with these lifter's.

Yes, lot of guys have had them grenade and the required preload is rediculous (0.002" - 0.004"). They also require adjustable rockers.

My only comment on this topic is that I bought a set of these GM "8,000 RPM" lifters ($300.00) when my 2003 C5R 427 was being "refreshed" last year, and my engine builder (Midwest Engine Tech.) suggested WE don't use them with my AFR 225/72's because he felt the valve train would be a lot heavier than the GM valve trains these are used in. I use Comp hydrolic lifters and rockers. I wonder if all the "Forum" guys that are using these have thought about that fact!!

JR

(I will be selling these lifters for $150 shortly in the box - never used)

Its been discussed but I am not sure considered. I went with Morel because they were specifically designed for oiling sitting lower in the bore (smaller base circle) have better materials and are used by the offshore racing guys who beat them for hours on end.
