Default 408 build

Well as some of you may know, I have spun a rod bearing in the LS1 so I am looking at dropping a 408 LQ9 in it. Was just looking for suggestions as to what combos to run. I would like to keep the total cost right around $7000 if possible. Would like to see 550rwhp on motor and will be hittin it with a 300 short shortly down the road. Also, if you know of any good engine shops, please let me know as I have not decided where I will be buying all of the components. Here's what I had in mind, but please put in your input/suggestions.

1. 408 shortblock with Callies crank and rods, Weisco forged nitrous pistons, Childs and Albert Dura Moly Rings
2. L92 heads
3. GMPP CARB intake manifold
4. 105mm throttle body
5. American Racing 1 7/8" headers
6. Custom grind cam (not sure on specs yet)
7. Fuel system- Was thinking billet fuel rails, 60lb injectors, Walbro 340 fuel pump and RaceTronix wiring upgrade should do the trick.

Sucks you spun a bearing, least your going to bigger and better things. What made you decide to go with the GMPP Carb Intake?

The L76 intake and Fast90 seem to be dying out at about 6000 rpm. My motor will probably be turning about 7500rpm, so those 2 intakes would kill me in comparison to the CARB intake. And I can run a fogger nitrous setup on the CARB manifold instead of doing direct port on the Fast90/L76 which tends to get kinda pricey.

Yeah, it should be pretty strong. I am now considering the Patriot Stage III LS6 heads. Anybody know how these do on 400+ cid. engines?

I think $7000 would be pretty hard to obtain. My motor + fuel system + rearend was close to double that amount. Also, if you plan on spraying a 300 shot you might want to consider going with some bigger head studs, or you might risk lifiting the heads.

I planned on doing the ARP head studs. What kind of fuel system are you running? I plan on bulking mine up for the nitrous, but I thought it would be more than sufficient for the NA set up.
