Default Which timing chain???

Putting in my cam, and I know I need the LS2 timing chain but ther are two types.
There's a single row and a double row.
I have a GM Hotcam so I am thinking the single row is the one I want.
Am I right?

The single row LS2 is plenty and you can use your stock sprockets. Just buy the chain itself from sdpc2000.com.....it's $37 and more heavy duty than the LS1 chain.

Another vote for LS2, it's perfectly sufficient for most applications.

If you degree the cam, you will need new sprockets as well.

Not really a function of hp, it really comes down to valve train loads.

So a LS2 single chain would work on a 2000 LS1?

Thanks.

^Hope not. I've been beating the hell out of my stock ls1 timing chain with a TRex/dual valvesprings. Not that I'm knocking anyone, because I don't know, but it seems to me like a very clever individual started marketing cam swap "kits." My stock 01 oil pump is still rockin 50+ psi at idle.

If you are going to swap it out, why not just get a timing set with a Torrington bearing, that is worth the effort to reduce wear on the cam plate which can increase with more valve train load.

Would a GMPP LS6 crate motor-long block, with a July 2005 build date have the heavier (LS2) timing chain? I'll be assembling the bolt-on parts to install it in my Suburban in a few weeks, but didn't plan on replacing or upgrading any internals. Thanks for any info.
