Diagnosis, need help!

Diagnosis, need help! I can't figure out what is causing this damn problem. Sometimes my car idles right at 950, smooth as hell and normal. And sometimes the damn thing goes down to like 850, and sounds cammed and smells like gas really strong. Also, when going WOT and shifting the car will do short backfire bursts. The car will also backfire a few times on each shift normal daily driving. I changed my o2's like 4 months ago and I cleaned my maf and the IAC and it helped somewhat but the problem still persists. Anybody have any ideas on what it could be?
this is probably a longshot but i was having the same problems when my air check valve got blocked by carbon buildup and eventually cracked then blew apart there nothing to check, and even if u do have to replace them i think they are like $6 ea
