Ive been reading on this boards not to use DEX-COOL but in my owners manual it says to use nothing but DEX-COOL and water. SOOOOOOO what should I use???

most of the new antifreeze they sell is for all makes and models. youll be fine with those, and they will mix with dexcool.

When I look at the fluid, its Orange, so Orange stuff is going back in. But like said some of the newer stuff is mixable.

DexCool sucks. Drain, flush, and refill with the new compatible stuff. That way you are safe with any residual DexCool. Camaro is done, and I will be doing that to the Avalanche when I get to coolant change time (old school 24k miles).

My votes for dex-cool or like mentioned above a coolant thats compatible with both conventional and dex-cool.

If you try a search you could read multiple opinions on this topic.

I'm running Prestone (I think) 50/50 premix, dexcool compatible, with a dash of red line water wetter. No problems so far.

If you're gonna add water, it should be distilled water. you can buy it at the grocery store or CVS.
