Default LS1 seals & gaskets

I'm rebuilding my 99 LS1 and was curious if the metal gaskets were reusable specifically the timing cover, rear main cover and oil pan? Also, what about the front and rear seals, I assume these definitely need to be replaced? Reason I'm asking is that this is my first LS1 rebuild and I do not want to run the risk of a leak but I also do not want to spend money that I don't have to.

Cheers!

NO! ESPECIALLY the front/rear engine cover gaskets, and the oil pan gasket. GM went through a lot of R&D time & trouble developing Gen III engine gaskets. The front/rear engine cover gaskets, and the oil pan gasket are compression carrier gaskets. GM (and any Gen III engine builder with 1/2 a brain) goes out of their way to warn against re-use of these gaskets, just as they warn against re-use of torque to yield fasteners.

If the front & rear seals are not nicked/ripped/bent or otherwise damaged, leave 'em in the covers....these are one of the few items that can be re-used if they're in good shape.

As for the other gaskets (head, exhaust, intake, etc.), that's up to you. Personally, I wouldn't re-use any of them, but, like I said, it's your choice. And money.

buy a master rebuild gasket kit. Quit trying to pinch $$ where you shouldn't, it will come and pinch you back in the ****. No to all your questions, do it right.

i guess most of us have 1/2 a brain as stated above, i reuse all gaskets. only head gaskets get replaced......two years later = no leaks

And that is supposed to be sound logic?
That is an exemple of good luck, not proper proceedure.
