Default callies main caps

1. why is there such a big price gap between callies' billet steel main caps and katech's billet steel main caps:

katech = $346 (their website)
callies = $531 (thunderracing)

is one set of better quality or material? or is a billet main cap a billet main cap?

2. i know that katech's have the dowel pin locators, do the callies as well??

I never know there was that big of a price difference. I am interested in this as well as I will be building a new motor soon.

The builder of my iron block 408 recommended Pro-Gram Engineering, as he uses them exclusively on the nitro & alcohol drag boat engines he builds. I recall that he charged me around $450 for mine, however Pro-Gram billet main caps for LSx run $585 on their website. Unfortunately, their website does not provide any technical detail on methods or tolerances so other than being American-made and constructed of SAE 4140, I'm not sure of any 'quality' differences of the three.

i just ordered a set of Katech's and they are SWWWEEEEEEETT, i went over all five of them with a dial caliper and they are all dead nuts on. They do have about an extra .025 on all the main journals, which will leave plenty of material to take off. very pleased with them, so pretty it sucks that no one will be able to see them once the motor is in the car. lol

FWIW I've got Pro Gram's in my 421.
