Default Head Swap Problem

Had to pull the heads on the LS1 in the RX7 because there was a coolant in the exhaust issue. Engine turned fine before heads were removed. Once the heads were off I turned the engine again (I'm pretty sure this is where I went wrong but I'm not sure?) so that I could clean the pistons more easily. Now that I have the heads/rockers back on the engine will no longer turn. I'm sure that it's all torqued down correctly as I was very meticulous. I've stopped where I'm at now and am waiting for further advice?

EDIT: To clarify, I haven't touched the cam or crank so they are still setup fine.

Are you trying to turn it over by hand or cranking it?

By hand, with a breaker bar. I've been able to do it before by hand though?

Will it turn at all in EITHER direction? The plugs are still out right? You didn't touch the timing set so you're DOT to DOT when #1 is at TDC on the compression stroke right? Did you pull the timing cover? Is your valve train set up properly. You better start removing parts one at a time until this thing begins to turn. It's always a good idea to spin the motor over by hand from time to time during the rebuild process just so you don't get hit by a big surprise like this one. That way you catch your mistake early on before you have the whole thing buttoned up.

Plugs ARE installed, wont turn in either direction. Didn't touch any of the timing stuff, nor did I remove the timing cover

Should the plugs be removed?

Maybe in the future you should try counting the number of parts you remove so you can be sure they EQUAL the number of parts you put back on. How the heck did you get the trunion and rocker bolt to mount properly ?

i mean it looks like the rockers go on there without the pedestal ? i started to do that before on a cam swap and then i noticed the two really long brackets . then i thought hey they go on here somewhere dont they ?

and maybe in the future you should consider just how useful your post will be before you hit the "submit reply" button.

Your logic also doesn't apply to this case as I was still planning on installing the rocker pedestal, I just wasn't thinking and had in my head that it went somewhere on top of the rockers between the rockers and valve covers. Therefore I was still installing the correct number of parts, just in a slightly altered order.
