Default Milled Heads

I did a couple of searchs and couldn't come up with anything.

If I mill a set of 241 heads a max of .030 will I have intake manifold clearance issues? I have a factory LS6 intake manifold setup.

Thanks,

No you will not have issues with the manifold. Even though your miling down the combustion chamber to a smaller CC, your head gasket thickness will help eliminate some of the difference & all will be fine.

I milled .040 and its still fine. Some people claim that you have issues milling past .050, but I have also heard a couple stories about people milling .060 without intake issues. Sealing is not a problem, but alignment may be.

Thanks.

I was thinking about milliing .016 and using a Cometic .040 (I have a 2002 which I believe is an MLS @.054) to achive the .030 reduction. This would also get my quench down to .032 which I have read is better and would allow me to back off compression with a larger gasket if necessary. Only issue is those $60 a set MLS head gaskets are looking pretty good.
