Default Rocker Adj.

Finally doing heads and cam on my car and i'm wonder now whats the best way to adj the rockers. The heads haven't been milled, ls7 lifters, and using 7.4 pushrods with the stock rockers. I read ls1howto and picked up a lot of good things but when it cam to the rockers, it said to torque them to 22 lbft. To me that just doesn't seem right. Thanks for any input.

Rockers are not adjustable. You should check the wipe pattern. If it requires correction, then you will need to shim accordingly. Once the wipe is correct, then you need to use an adjustable pushrod and measure your pushrod length. Pushrod length only sets lifter preload, it has no affect on the rocker wipe pattern unless of course it is so short it doesn't fully open the valve or so long it holds it open.

He hit the nail on the head.

BTW stock rockers do get torqued to 22 lbs.
