Default Next Step Up from TR224? If Any.

Currently running TR224 112 and mods below. Not a DD, mostly a toy and no decent tracks near. Looking for better mid to high rpm power. Will re-stall to 4000. Or, should I just stay with what I got. Maybe a procharger would be good. I like the bigger Thunder Racing cams. Probably in the low 230's, I would guess. Just don't want anyone around here (my towm) to bad mouth late F-Bodies. I have surprised a few already.lol

So, cam change or work toward FI? Oh yeah, I live in Nevada at ~ 5100ft. elevation. Nice air , huh?

Thanks

Dont know how good a FI set up would be on a cam with a 112lsa, If someone knows i'd love to learn i thought it had to be greater then a 114lsa to work properly. But im prolly wrong

You could go with something like an LG cam they are proven cams, if my car was 6speed i prolly would have gotten one myself

Have you thought about nitrous? If not, you could always step up to a 230ish cam and a 4000+ stall.

Yeah, I thought about and even bought a wet kit. I sold it before using it to fund my 9 inch project. Honestly, I don't want nitrous because 1. It kinda scares me and 2. I want the power/torque any and all the time.
My car is sweet now but you know how it goes with mods.....more,more,more.

Thanks Guys and keep it comin'!!!

well why not look at the TR230/224 cam? another member gillbot is running that cam with a 4k stall and makes 399rwhp on stock heads!! i got a 3200 stall and im running the X1 230/227 and make 393 rwhp stock heads without a pulley and crappy 2.73..

MTI X1 is a great choice. Number one thing to keep in mind about FI is $$$. If you haven't read it, there is a great sticky in the FI section about the cost. Futral F13 is another popular 23X cam. With your heads and a high lift F13 you could make some pretty decent power. I would say if your willing to spend dough for a procharger or turbo setup at least give nitrous a try. But as far as the above listed cams, neither are great for nitrous. Need a little more exhaust duration.

reverse splits can work with nitrous!! i know a guy named jaSSon , and BEARDWS6 all ran the X1 and spray 100-125 shot and dipped in the 10's. its just when u go over 150 shot i belive is when u want a traditional split.

I'd go FI. Cam swap will not get you a lot more HP. If you did, I would look at the Mamo cam.

Something along the lines of a TSP torquer would be the next step up. Mid 230 cam on a 112 is still streetable but sounds good and makes power, especially coupled with a matched set of heads.

TR224 is a better cam than that.

Thanks Guys, not sure what it does on a dyno. No dynos around here either, could go to Salt Lake or Las Vegas though. I asked members here for estimates on rwhp and most were 385-410, which is close I'd guess.
I had thought of PMing Pat G. I will try that. Can anyone tell me his member name?? Sad I don't remember since I have read hundreds of his posts.

Thanks again!!
