Cam install tips...
I recently installed a cam in my 2000 camaro z28 and figured I would post up a couple things, that may come in handy for someone else embarking on this adventure... two things:
1. When taking off the oil pickup line off the oil pump shove a rag or something in the oil pan to catch the bolt if it drops. I was lucky and the bolt dropped but got stuck on the first baffle in the pan. So we just pulled it out with a magnet.
2. When reinstalling the oil pump its much easier to take off the cover and gears of the oil pump, to see/make sure the O-ring goes in correctly and doesnt get pinched. We had put the car all back together and fired it up and ZERO oil pressure, tore it back down and the o-ring was pinched... cost us about another 3 hours of work.
Thats pretty much it, other than that the install went good no major problems. Just wanted to post this up as tips for anyone doing this.

For the oil pump bolt, I took mine almost all the way out and then got a small zip tie and wrapped it around the thread and then took the bolt the rest of the way out. I used a piece of mechanics wire to install the bolt.

droptopT/A: I used jpr tools to hold the lifters off the cam, mine slid right in all the way to the back... without turning hmmm. yeah you might want to try the metal dowel.
