Default How comparible will this Comp be to TR230/224?

A friend of mine had a connection for Comp cams so I placed an order for a custom grind to mimick the TR230/224 111lsa

How comparible will it be since I'm guessing the lobes are different since people say the thunder racing lobes are proprietary?

The lift numbers are virtually identical...I believe .001 off on each or so. Just curious...

I've heard good things about the TR230 cam and was going to go with that but my budget is tight so I was able to save nearly $100 with the Comp grind.

im pretty sure thunderracing orders thier cams from comp, and grinds them.

so it should be pretty close, i would guess.

If it was ground on the X-ER lobes I think the difference will be undetectable.

SINCE YOU MENTION ONLY VERY SLIGHT DIFFERENCE IN LIFT, I guess that you are grinding it on XE lobes. The TR cam will be more powerfull.
This is what I would do if I was you.
230/224 .612/.581 111+2 LSA
This is a XFI/XE-R lobes
3016R intake lobe
3722R exhaust lobe
111 LSA
109 ICL

That grind will be a tad more powerful than the TR grind, with similar characteristics.

Yeap those are XE lobes with a rate intensity of 53 Vs TR lobes that are 50.
So these are less agressive lobes, will make ~10 rwhp less than a TR lobed cam +/-

ok, thats cool

like i said i was just curious...

I saved almost $100 on the cam package so I don't feel too terrible about it as this will be 99.9% street car and DD more than racing anyway...and $100 might not sound like much but like I said I've been trying to get this built, installed, and running/tuned for under $4k including the price of the engine and tranny, so things are tight and anything I can get at discount or free helps a ton

appreciate the advice!

btw, I dont see many dyno numbers for this cam with an auto

sadly I might have to use a LS1 intake for now too...so what would be a good number to look for as RWHP? Like maybe 360-370 after tune or maybe a hair higher?

12 bolt and 3.42 gears, throttle body will be ported, long tubes, cutouts, no emissions crap or cats, no A/C, and a free flowing air filter/intake tube
