I would look at Texas speed or SDPC ----------->

Personally, I would avoid the SLP ls2 402. Not to bash SLP, I have some of their parts and think they are great, just not their shortblock.

Knew a guy with an SLP 402 NA with a FAST 90/90, g5x4 cam, A4....he made 490/480 through a Stage V RPM tranny and Dana 60 rear.

I hate to repeat stuff considering I don't know it to be true first hand, but with that being said I was told to stay away from SDPC due to engine failure on the dyno. No way bro. I would have a heart attack if my newly installed engine after putting some break in miles on her FAILED on the dyno.

Thanks for your comments. I will look at TSP before I make a decision. Too soon for a decision anyways.

That sounds awesome! Especially considering it was through an A4 and heavy rear. Wonder how much a ported 92 with 95 mm T/b would help ? You think an M6 with a DTE stg III w/3.42's could make 520 to the wheels with a comparable cam and all mods plus AFR 205's??

Forgot to mention he was running AFR 225's. Shouldn't be a problem through an m6 though. Should hit that number fairly easily.

There were some threads on here about the SLP LS2 402. I know more, but don't want to start a bunch of ****. You can do a search to try to find them. Personally I would stick with TSP or SDPC.

Default Slp402

I've got a SLP 402. No problems with it!

I'm making 485/445 with L92 heads. No oil usage or any other problem. I'd buy one again.

How many miles you got on the short block?? How hard do you drive it ?? Can you give me some details about your setup ??

L92 heads, what cam, headers, intake, drive line, m6 or a4, etc etc. I'd like to know so I have an idea of what I'd be looking at with my parts swapped.

I have new ported 92 FAST, 95mm tb both new in box, ewp, ud pully, lg pros, g5x3 version II, M6, DTE stg III 3.42's, carb. FIB drive shaft, exedy twin plate, LGM is giving me the big3 for my bullets, and afr 205's. Do you think with my dyno friendly setup she'll put down 520/500 with compression around 11.5 to 1 ?? I'd be hoping for that. I am already at 490/445 in my 346. Too bad she's drinking coolant again, and leaking oil.

I can understand the 12.0 if it is the first couple of passes.
But 118MPH?? Should trap 125+ I would think.

Any 402 shortblock will make 520ish with your mods already on your 346 with the additions listed. Just choose the right pistons to get to the compression you are looking for. I'd say 520 wouldn't be a problem at all. A local guy here made 490rwhp through a SPDC 402 shortblock with AFR's milled to 60cc and a small 232/236 cam with stock ti's, and stock WP through a DTE 3.90 rear. Car also went 10.8's @ 131-132mph in the 1/4 on 18" DR's.

Being that you have a cam approx 234/242, more massaged AFR's, EWP, etc I don't see 520rwhp being a problem through 3.42's. I don't know about 500rwtq but you will gain about 40-50rwtq throughout the curve which is a lot more massive than a peak number.

If you are going big though I would pay a little extra and go with a 418 LS3 although that would require larger bore heads to get the most out of it.

I appreciate all the comments. SLP with the diamond pistons -2cc reliefs sounds like what I need. Should yield between 11.5 and 12 to 1 compression depending on which gasket I use.

SLP comes with -6CC pistons from Manley..(High CR SHORT)
SLP comes with Callies Compstar Crank
SLP comes with Manely H-Beam Rods

I personally know about 10 guys now that have bought these shortblocks and none of them had any issues with them....They made anywhere from 465RW to 520RW depending on the cam, heads and extra's selected..

Its a rock solid shortblock and a great deal now with its sale pricing..
We just ordered one for one of my customers today

Thanks bro, I just got off the phone with DON@SLP and I think their shortblock is the way I will be going. Just have to work out some issues first.

I really appreciate everyone posting there experiences and helping me decide what to do.
