You run into less issues this way, the car wont be faster if it's in the low octane table all the time.

I run 30* total right now with no problem in 100* southern heat. My current combo has 11.8 SCR and 8.63 DCR. This combo won't have any more DCR. I don't forsee any problems. I have run all the way up to 9.08 DCR and could still run 24* total with no problem. It must be all in the tune.

We see negative results out here much over 11.2-3:1 for street cars on pump gas. I have one of the best tuners on the west coast who tunes my car so that is never an issue. The gas quality is. IF you've got good gas you can run more compression, but I always like to keep it safe. Dedicated track car is different. Your not going to go to the pump and get a different batch of gas with maybe slightly less octane.

I appreciate you taking down the snide comments. I was strictly stating facts about the cars I have done in my area that lead to my choice in my compression ratio and cam selection. Nothing more.

You are correct the gas on the West Coast is garbage. I grew up in the Bay Area so I know first hand. Out here I have never had a problem with 93. So different parts of the country different tunes. I don't doubt your tuner. I tune my car and the cars I build so I know what I can get away with in my area. If I lived some where else I would build and tune accordingly. Your new motor looks to be a monster. I can't wait to hear some results. Good luck with it.

No problem, The statement thats " its all in the tune" just seemed to suggest a faulty tune may be the culprit.

You guys are very luck in Texas (or are you in Texas?)with your gas. 12.8:1 or 13:1 around here would be absolutely insane..lol

What about the rest of the country? Who else gets the good stuff? Maybe thats a good poll to post.

Thank's guys. No I am not in Texas. I am actually in North Carolina. Good gas and good air (most of the time). I will only be running 12.00:1 SCR give or take a tenth. So with the size cam I need for this motor my DCR will only be in the 8.5-7:1 range. Plenty safe with pump gas. My tune comment was aimed more at location and available gas then a derogative remark on any ones abilities. Sorry if it came across differently.

If I can sell the cam in my combo and have Pat G spec me out something we are pretty sure I can hit my goals of 550/525rw daily driven. Now that would be a monster considering I ran the times in my sig with just around 480/440rw.

LS2. I ordered my stuff today from SDPC. I had to go with the Scat set up and stock bolts to stay in my budget. Your block looks great. I can't wait to see some numbers. It is going to be an interesting comparison between the two combos. Smaller heads and larger cam with different rotating assembly vs. larger head, smaller cam, smaller header.
Is this the thread you are reffering to. If not this is the one I was referencing. Finally found it again, lol.

That is the thread. There was way too much argueing and nonsense in there to get any thing out of it. I am stuck with the LG's right now so I will see how they do. If they hit my numbers then I won't worry about them. All I know is that my Supermaxx catted headers made just as much tq if not a couple more than my LG's. Some one explain that. So from my experience I can't say they are better at all.
