Default Installing Cam b4 Ehaust ?

I know it's probably really stupid but has anyone done it? What did it drive like? Sound? I've got a 98 WS6 w/ the SOTL exhaust and I want to keep the single pipe and will be purchasing a set of QTP long tubes and ORY w/ dual electric cutouts in the near future but I want to make sure that I'm fine until then.

Let me know.

Of course you can do it. Your car has a cam now..lol Just means that you might not see the full benefits from the cam.

You'll need a tune after the cam and headers usualy make it run rich, so maybe you might want to think about that... tuning it twice might have to be a possibility

Installing a cam on an LS1 with stock headers netted me a 13.2@103-104 second time slip. Its hardly impressive to have a 350 dollar performance part HURT performance. I see these threads more and more every day. Intake and FULL exhaust - then cam, springs, retainers and chain, then tune. If you can't do that, don't cam the car. Deal with the "boring" sound of 119.5 degree lobe separation until you can do it right.

I agree, your also just wasting money on another tune when you could have bought a set of headers for the price of a good tune on a dyno. Just my .02

Well the headers will be on the car shortly after I get the cam put in. Going with QTP and their Y-pipe w/ dual electric cutouts. The tune will be on shortly after that. I doubt I will run it at the track with Cam, intake, 125 shot and a stock clutch and exhaust. Don't see the point in trying to be Billy Bad *** with limited mods. I'm just doing the mods in different order.
The car will be quick....someday, lol.

Well, I went ahead and ran across a smoking deal. FAST 90/90 combo->$500
Free Hooker long tubes and ORY. Got the Intake, TB, Exhaust, cam and springs installed and even had a buddys motor pulled for $1000.

Here's a vid of the new untuned setup through the factory exhaust. Electric cut out will be installed next week while I am out of town. I'll post another sound clip of that next week.

I need a Fast 90/90 combo for $500. You have anymore for that price. I guess the price will be coming down now the 92 is out.

Sounds good.
