If its one of our ported pumps (TSP) they typically will do 15psi more than your stock pump would do (if the stock one was working correctly before swapping), if you just changed pumps alone with no other changes. What was your oil pressure before?

Seeing that you did cam and lifters, those two things can also raise the oil pressure as well since cam bearing journal clearances could be slightly tighter than stock. Same thing with lifters, if all 16 lifters all had just .0005" tighter clearance, there would be a slight gain in oil pressure. Or on the other hand it would have lower pressure if those clearances were on the loose side.

Edit: If your higher pressure is undesired and its one of my pumps, I can send you a slightly lower pressure spring.

BTW if this is in a C5, the oil sending units are known to go bad just by breathing on them, they are delicate. If its bad, they will normally just read 120psi just about anytime the motor is running, sometimes they stay that way just with the key on. If thats the case (120psi) then its definitely just a bad oil sending unit and an easy fix.

I did my pump when I did my heads and cam. I also replaced the oil pressure sensor due to breaking it when removing the intake. I was at 45 cold start, 32-35psi hot idle, 50-55 wot before the swap. Now I am at 70 psi cold start, 45-50 hot idle, 65-70 wot.

OK its wed evening,, i picked up my Ride, we replaced the oil sending switch which was broken and whoa oil presure was normal...

i would like 1 thx all the peeps on LS1 for Great info..props

yes. should be easy 11.7 or 11.8 is my guess. but that all depends on if you get traction and have nice weather. you got the power/gearing/stall to hit low 1.6 60's easy. that'll put you back in the seat nicely.

i just had a H/C install along with an LS6 oil pump...

I had the SAME THING happen... it pegged at 80 and stayed there for a while...

over the next few days the oil pressure dropped down to a normal pressure of between 40-60...

I wouldn't worry about it... my mechanic said it's normal when a new unit is installed for it to do that for the first day or two...

sure enough, everything has been fine since.
