Dude, I am so glad I just read your last post. I was getting ready to put my 416 in and forgot about the knock sensors. I am also pretty lucky that my next door neighbor is a machinist and had a 10x1.5 tap and drill bit. The windage tray is a pain in the butt as well. I have ARP stuff on my 383 that I had to drill out and put spacers in to clear the 4.00" crank. So I just used the same stuff for this build. What I don't have are the stock nuts to hold the windage tray down any more. They sat on my work bench for over a year and I figured I wouldn't need them ever, so I threw them away about a month ago. Oh well. So now I have to get some from the dealer ship tomorrow and drop the short block in. I should have it fired up by this weekend. We can compare notes when they are both done.

What did you have to change when degreeing your cam to gain PTV? Did you just retard it some? It took forever to degree mine. It kept comming up on 108 ICL straight up instead of 110. So I advanced it two degrees and couldn't get it to come up the same twice. So I tore it all off and started again. It ended up with between 109.5-7 ICL so I left it alone. The only weird thing is that it wouldn't come up correct with the at .050 method trying to read valve events. I think I am going to do it again tomorrow since I will have some time waiting for the windage tray nuts. Any way, I am hijacking your thread so I will stop. Good luck and let us know when it is fired up.

Brett

ya i had arp main studs installed so they came with diff nuts and a longer stud to bolt them too so i was able to space the windage tray off 3 washers and not tear it up. ya i had to put it in dot to dot to clear, i wanted it advanmced 4.

fired it up and drove it home tonight. very excited. she runs ok on the tune that was already in it but it def needs some love. it will be getting tuned next week. had a few issues at start up but the main one was the crank position sensor wasnt reading. turns out the wires were crossed in the front cover that i got from gm. but its all good now. feels like a violent beast that wants to get rung out but i have to finish breaking it in fist. just hope i can drive it for a whole week without beating on it.

Hahahah congrats. Ya, I think you'll manage. Especially knowing that the longitude of your build will depend on your break in. Then its all out GO!

Ls2bait that is one beautful ss. When you get her broke in and tuned will you run her at IRR? I would like to see her run in person. My ss is sad looking compared to yours.

Damn bro, I don't think they look that clean on the showroom floor. Your engine bay has got to be the most impressive thing I have seen in quite a long time. You could eat off the surfaces. How the hell did you get her to look so amazing ??

thank you very much. a lot of time has gone into that over the last yr and a half or so. it keeps me occuppied at night when i get bored or cant sleep. i dont think there is a wire in that engine bay that hasnt been relocated. i try to keep it pretty clean so it gets wiped down often. still some stuff i would like to do to it but i dont want to over do it. thinking of an aluminum battery cover to match the aluminum fuel cell that will be on the other side.

Looks beautiful. Glad it is all up and running. Did you get your front cover from SDPC? Do you think I need to look at mine? I have the short in the car. I am just waiting on my heads. Again man, that is one beautiful ride you have there.
