409 Stroker motor will NOT idle! HELP!

409 Stroker motor will NOT idle! HELP! I just got done with my iron block 409 buildup. The cam is a custom comp cams grind, .608/.612 lift and 240/244 duration on a 112 lsa. I'm running 38# injectors. I had idle set to 1200 rpm. I've had the car running for a few days now and it refuses to idle. Sometimes, when Im at a stop light it will idle if I barely hold the gas, and very slowly let off it will idle. But as soon as I touch the gas and let off again, it will die.
Do I need to drill out the hole in the throttle plate, if so how big? Because the car will idle fine if I just barely hold the gas so I'm thinking its not getting enough air to idle good. But Im not sure. And I want to get this fixed ASAP because I'm getting the final tuning done on the motor this weekend.

Re: 409 Stroker motor will NOT idle! HELP! check your iac counts. you've probably got them up in the 150-200 range. they need to be 20-40ish.
aside from that, where'd you order the cam from? when i spoke to comp, the biggest lobe they had was around a 242* duration.

My old 244/244/112 in a 422ci iron block setup idled at 1050. 1200 will pull you thru lites and stuff.
Autotap your iac counts. If they are over 50 they are too high. Drill out the hole a little bit at a time.

I bought the cam direct from Comp Cams. I just called the number on their webpage and ordered it!
And I knew 1200 was too high, but I just wanted to get it to idle before I got any more tuning done to it. And I'm in a M6 so I wont be getting pulled thru any lights

Re: 409 Stroker motor will NOT idle! HELP! Drilling the TB out will do the job but it will raise your idle. Might have to play around with the idle screw but don't turn it to much or you will have problems
