asa cam question
So my car is a 01 z28
Auto
2.73s
stock stall.
mods are
jba shorties, stock cats, slp y pipe, slp loudmouth, whisper lid, ported maf, ported stock throttle body, smooth bellows, dyno tuned by a local guy.
so im thinking of changing the route of the car temporally... i was planning on spraying it. and i still want to in the future. but i want more power all the time for now. so i saw some good things of the gm asa cam.
basically my questions are
1. How will the cam do with the stock stall and gears, or are a stall and gears required for this cam?
2. Will the cam work with the tune i currently have untill i get it back to him for a re tune?
3. I heard you have no need to upgrade valve train components with this cam, Is this true?
4. In the future will it be a good cam for spraying it.
Thanks for the feed back
2. You'll need a re-tune. The VE will change dramatically with the ASA and will need tuned accordingly to achieve a safe WOT afr.
3. You need LS6 valvesprings at a minimum. Stock rockers, pushrods, locks & retainers can be used, but hardened pushrods are a good idea.
4. You betcha.....I plan to throw a 150 wet shot at mine eventually.
jmm98LS1 is right, 2.73's and stock stall w/ that cam will not be fun.
You'll also have to run to the LS6 springs. I upgraded to the LS6 springs, hardened pushrods (7.425), and LS2 chain, but kept the stock rockers and retainers. I'm also planning to throw some n2o at it eventually!
