What do stock ls6 heads flow and is this a good deal?
The reason I ask is because I found a ad from GM selling them NEW and they are suppose to be CNC P@P from GM performance with a flow rate of 290@ 600 lift/ Stainless shortened valves or something like that. Anyway they want $940 per head through them. If these are a good price then I can get them for cost through my buddy at the parts counter when it comes time for the build up. Thanks in advance

Stock LS6 heads will probably flow ~ 280 at .600 lift. Whether it's worth it or not is up to you. Ported LS1's are probably a better bet for you unless you just have to have every last drop of flow. Not to mention they're cheaper, too.

i dont like to play the CFM game because everyone's bench is diffrent, however, i dont think that on a superflow bench a stock LS6 head would flow that much @28" of water. but they do fairly well. somone @ Thunder racing i believe posted a sheet with each type of LSX heads w/ flow#'s all the way to .700" lift. interesting comparo. and would give you a better idea of what they "flow". seems like those heads did 260's ish cfm. on thunder's bench.
to answer your question red-2k it's all about how much money you want to spend. the cnc heads are a good deal from GMPP especially if you're looking for an LS6 combustion chamber, and more flow. ;D

I have a chart on the LS6 CNC ported heads tested by different companies. MTI flow rated the GM CNC ported LS6 heads with 304cfm @ .600" intake and 212cfm @.600" exhaust. These are not bad for a small valve setup. just my $0.02

Here is some additional info on the GM performance parts heads. The CNC porting is done by LPE but does not use the same porting program as LPE's own heads. They are machine to specs. provided by GM.

The above is the link to the spreadsheet posted by J-Rod.
Somewhere in the archives is a post that J-Rod, Ed Potter (LPE) and others dicussed these heads in considerable detail. Do a search and you should be able to find it.

So is this a crappy deal or good deal? Would some of you go with a sponser on here to get better heads or these if it were your own money?

Red, what kind of cam do you want to run? I seem to recall thoses heads do not have springs set up for XE, XE-R, TR or other high lift aggressive ramp cams. The springs would be ok with LS6 cam or hotcam or cams with similar lift etc.

Also if it matters. Isnt alot of places heads rebuilt reworked P&P cores? If these are new then they have never been run. That should be worth something as well
