Default timing chain help

i bought a comp double timing chain (part #7153) and nothing fits. the oil pickup no longer fits because they give you shims to move the oil pump out to clear the chain, also the timing cover hits the oil pump because of this. after installing the oil pump and turning the engine over by hand i noticed that the chain had been rubbing my new mellings oil pump. its hard for me to beleive that comp would market a product like this. are all the ls1 double chains like this.what do i need to make this setup work or should i just get a different timing set.

I dont beleave you can run a Melling oil pump with a double roller, from what ive been told. Only a single roller chain will work

i think there is a way to but u gotta do a little grinding to it if you decide to switch im sure you will be safe by just going with a ls2 single roller i never hear anything about them breaking

There have actually been several LS2 chains that have broke. However, as stated above, its the pump. SLP sells the same pump but modifies it for the double roller. It is not Comps fault.

I'll most likely go with a single chain. Does anyone know of any good aftermarket single chains.

Katech sells it, but its not cheap. The JP Perforamnce isn't a bad setup and the cam gear has a Torrington bearing to boot.

The chain left a mark on the oil pump where it was rubbing (on the casting where the pickup slides in) and i only turned the motor over with a ratchet. The cover wont fit at all. At first it was hitting the bolts on the front of the pump so I ground them down and now the timing cover is hitting the center of the oil pump. Sorry I don't have a digital camera so I can't post pics.
