Default 243 heads

Will heads (243) from a 2005 Vette fit on a 2001 LS1? What is the increase in HP from the 241's.

Yes they will fit, as for HP my guess is 15 rwhp. I would spend $400 and send them to Texes speed and have them put there stage 2.5 head job and pick up 40-50 rwhp

if you take the 243's and do a little port work and add the right cam you can get 425+rwhp out of your stock ls1 shortblock

I got ported and milled 243 heads from Patriot and put down 435 at the wheel with them.

I vote to use them stock with the right cam. The LS6 heads do not need any work to put down very good numbers.

I just put stock 243 heads in this past weekend. You can tell a difference about 4k, but there is next to no difference down low, even though it bumps up compression. Match a good cam with it and you can make good power.

stock 243s milled just a bit . then maybe lightly port them out a bit . check my sig as i am running a small cam with stock 243s that i touched up just a bit . i am sure there is room for improvement on the porting but i just did not want to over do it .

Installing untouched 243s is difficult to justify the labor involved in doing a head swap. Like everyone already said, get them ported!!! Instead of a 5-10 HP gain, youll likely see 30+ HP.

ported 243 are great heads but if u dont have the money and are doing the labor yourself stock 243 with the right cam are still good deal i went from 400 400 to 430h and 420t with just changing heads
