Default lq9 with 317's or 862's?

on a 6.0 which do you guys think i should do? i know 862's will make the compression pretty high but i'm planning on e85 anyways so it'll be perfect and i know the 5.3 heads will need bigger valves and the 6.0 heads already have the bigger valves...i'm rambling now bottom line is this is a budget build and i'm looking to spray it some..what you guys think any suggestions thanks much sorry for the run on sentence! Paul

6L heads are plenty for a budget build. The 5.3s bump the compression too much for me, but the guy that works on my car runs a LS1 with 4.8s and spray. It really comes down to what you can find, how quick, and what is the cheapest.

Good Luck!

BTW heads aren't much of a concern for E85, but you need some big injectors! Personally I like lower compression motors as well.

thank you for your input anyone else i'm just gonna pretty much bolt them on and go with some new valve springs and that's about it so just trying to figure out which will make more power stock for stock head on a lq9

What does the rest of your setup consist of? Which cam, headers, intake, etc...

I would go for the higher compression if you are running a decent size cam. But the 317's have slightly better flowing ports(similar to LS6) than the 862's, so keep that in mind also.
