Default piston ring experts please?

sorry guys this is a bit off the topic, im building a small engine (go kart motor)i bought new piston rings, 2 compression 1 scraper oil ring, and i noticed on 1 of the new compression rings, the width of the ring is a little thinner! but it goes in fine, but there is a little play in it! but im sure if it compresses into the cylinder it would fit fine. now im not sure wether it would be safe to use this or would i have compression leak? thanks

Sometimes the two top rings will be of different thicknesses, usually the second will be the thicker.
