$700 to disassemble, port, valve job, flow them, mill them just a tad to make sure they were perfectly smooth and reassembled with new valve seals.

^ Those look really nice. How much material did he remove from the runners? How much did they flow?

He just did a duplicate set of these for a STOCK CAM 6.0 GTO and they gained 20rwhp average and 30rwhp at peak without tuning.

I hope to have the flow sheet soon, still haven't got it from him.

The porting looks good. I do have a question though. Is there a difference between an LS6 #243 casting and the newer non-LS6 #243 castings? The reason I ask is because the combustion chamber on that head looks exactly like the one on my #241 castings. I thought that the chamber rework that GM did is what provided the improved performance over the other castings, as well as a slightly smaller chamber. It probably won't make a difference on a ported set of heads. Just curious if anyone has any more info.

Castings are the same. The valves they came with were the difference. LS6 uses hollow sodium filled valves. LS2 uses solid steel valves.

Thats exactly what I was thinking, it looks like an LS1 chamber. I'm about 90% certain that LS6 chambers had more material right above the spark plug hole. Like this:

the 243s come from 3 different plants . 2 use a special process that leaves triangle marks between the spark plugs on the outside . . the other plant of the three, uses a sand cast . scroll down for a quick read :

looks as though he de shrouded the plug boss, usually you dont see much of a gain with that but alot of porters swear by it

It might be a good idea to CC the combustion chamber to make sure the SCR is where you want it.

Heck he could have sent me the wrong pics, he sent these and the heads won't be to me till tomorrow so I'll get pics when I have the heads in my possession. Here's his link to some other stuff he has done.

They look good, but what do they flow? Also how big is the intake runner? They look kind of big, but you can't really tell just looking at a pic. The combustion chamber looks more like a 317 head (72cc chamber), along with the d-shaped exhaust ports.

Agreed. Flow is the real test. However for a hand ported set of heads, it looks like he took the material out of all the right places as far as I can tell.

If I remember correctly, you want to remove material there if you want good flow numbers.

But you don't want to remove material there if you want to try to keep the air from seperating off the short turn radius.
