Default 5.3 PRC stage 2.5 & MS3 install done!

Justin (Stangkilr ) and i did this install this weekend, Prc 5.3 stage 2.5 heads and TSP MS3 cam full kit and ls7 lifters, 85mm Professional Products Typhoon Intake & fuel rails, OBX headers. The heads and cam kit is a good setup but me and justin really didnt like the intake or the headers they look nice but thats about it. The intake is 40+lbs. It holds alot of heat in and the gaskets suck. The OBX headers i have always wonder about and they suck too! The passenger side is basicly touching the floorboard and the driver side is hitting the steering bar. Diver side was a pain to get in too The install is nice and easy and it sounds good. He had to run it home open headers because the y-pipe wouldn't fit into the SLP lM catback. here are some pics and vids

heavy junk to me!

1st start up open headers

One things i didnt like about these heads were you can see in alot of places they didnt port! We had some stage 1 PRC LS6 heads in this same shop that port job looked better! Its like they missed a few spots lol. You would think the stage 2.5 would look beter then the stage 1's

Looks good and sounds great. I am looking at the same heads with a custom cam. Get some exhaust on there and make another video!

What size pushrods did you go with and did you check the preload on them?

The ports are fine. It will not hurt a thing that some of the port doesn't clean up.

It always amazes me how many guys on ls1tech think because a port has a few uncnc'd areas that the machine must have missed a few spots, or somehow they aren't as good as they should be.

This is absolutely not the case! The ports are built to flow big air with the least amount of material removed as possible. The ulitmate goal of the PRC 5.3l heads is to keep the port sizes down for better velocity.

I could have built a bigger port that cleans up more of the runner, but we strive to build the best possible products, not the one that looks pretty but doesn't perform!

I have installed a few of PRC heads in past and this was the 1st set that i saw spots that some of the factory casting spots could be seen and didnt have full CNC marks. Not ******* the heads they are great and every car i have told or have installed have put down awesome #'s.

yeah i wouldnt worry about an untouched part here and there. my friend had the 2.5 heads and ms3 cam with full bolt ons + a 90/90 set up and it was a strong car. he beat a car by a few lengths with ported ls6 heads that had more than 20 hp to the wheels over his. they are definently great heads for a stock short block

That was a smooth, clean install. Now if TSP will ever get my head back to me I could get my new one port matched and installed. New valve springs installed correctly of course lol.

that sounds sweet!! you gotta keep us posted on some dyno numbers or track times.
I got my MS3 on the way and saving up for some PRC 5.3s also.

Just out of curiosity, did you change your timing chain and oil pump? and like stated above, what size pushrods are you using?

Awesome video! I'm about to do the same heads/cam on my 98 Transam and hopefully I hit the 400hp+ marker.
