Default Rod bolts... best kind

What are the best rod bolts to buy for my car??, Im pulling the motor and might as well change them while its out.

I saw ARP bolts but they said there 79.99 each. That equals alot of money for how many bolts you actually need. Is it supposed to be 80 dollars times 16 bolts... or is it 80 bux for the whole change.

$80/set. Very smart move. I didn't change mine and it resulted in a spun bearing which resulted in a rebuilt short. ARP is the best. Mine now has ARPs and they are great.

I have the ARP Pro Series ones in my car. Very nice bolts and for the 100 bucks I spent, I'm glad they're in there. Either of the ARP's will work fine IMO.

Katech just to be safe if you are not tearing the engine where you can have the rods resized. ARP recomends doing this with their bolts but a lot on here don't and get away with it. Katechs can be swapped in no worries.

I just installed Katechs I spent the extra money. I was told the ARP bolts do not weigh the same as a stock one but the Katechs do. Just felt better about the Katechs but plenty have used ARP's.

Yep. It's the way I would go if it's not a rebuild You can see the physical size diff clearly.

Just make sure with the ferrels when you put them back in. Katech is a tad different than ARP.

newbie question pertaining to the rod bolts, do you have to take apart the whole bottom end to install the rod bolts? or can u replace them with the engine assembled?

You can replace them in the car. I did my ARPs by taking one stocker out, then replacing it with the ARP bolt. The cap stays in place fine doing them that way.

I installed my ARPs with the motor in the car. PITA but worth the peace of mind. Install motor mounts while you're down there!
