Default 130 trap speed

im just curious to see how many people, if any, are hitting 130 mph in the quarter mile with just heads and cam on a stock 346 ci block. i havent done it yet but was hoping after the addition of some new heads that maybe it was possible.

NA it would have to be a VERRRRY light car almost unrealisticly light in the 2500-2700 range and one hell of a 346ci setup...

With 150 hit of the juice it happens all the time with a nice well rounded H/C setup

Check the drag racing section and you'll probably find what you are looking for

FWIW: I went 129 mph with heads, cam, FAST90/90 and a 150 shot

I have been 128mph in the 1/4 with a TR224 cam, stock heads and a 124rwhp dry shot running 3.90's (stock 10bolt) in my full weight M6. I just pulled that cam out and I am in the process of putting a F 14 in with PP LS6 heads on top. I think I should have a good chance at breaking 130mph with this new setup and 100rwhp shot.

stock bottom end, Nitto 275/40 17" DR's, stock 10 spokes

Its not that hard with a good tune and some good parts. My H/C 346 is trapping 135 and I'm still running a T-56, no wait thats why my car trapps real good.

Good luck, Tom

DemonicBird00 has gone 127mph with his custom cam (unmilled heads and no flycutting) only T56 camaro. He doesnt even have a ported fast. Its box stock. He also went 127 mph with his slicks at something like 15psi so he could hook up better but that has got to add to the rolling resistence down the rest of the track and slow down the traps. He has done weight reduction but I believe his car is still 3200-3300lbs.

This is the best combo I've seen.. add heads and you should be at 130+

This is the combo I am planning on putting in a 2500lb car with a 100 shot to get to 140mph traps.

Then theres the LG guys who went 140mph with their H/C C5 but that weighed in at about 2800lbs

Good luck

agreed, but you would think with more and more 500 rwhp combos youd see more 130 traps

I have gone 124 in a cam only auto and 131 on a slipping converter 100 shot...

It is not hard at all to go 130 you just need the correct set up, low weight, and some money.

Not many new people are going 130... but the older guys back in like 05,04,03 were doing it a lot.

good luck, maybe ill hit 130 one day when i can afford heads... right now im shooting for 135 and mid 9's cam only on a big shot
