Default bearing question

Just got told I couldn't use the clevite "H" series on my stock crank because of the chamfer of the crank. Any truth to this?

Excellent question! I needed the same info so I just called Speed Inc. They said the H bearings are made of a harder material than the P bearings which is what you should be using for stock crank applications.

That's what I thought! So can I run the "h" series?

Anyone? I need to order my stuff soon. I don't know how much longer my old engine has left.

I just ordered my forged Eagle H beam connecting rods from TSP. They should be here tomorrow actually. I'm keeping stock crank so my invoice lists them as "Eagle LS1 6.125 H-Beam connecting rod set with upgraded ARP 2000 Rod Bolts, 2.100 crank journal, .927 wrist pin" hopefully this helps you.

The crank doesn't really have a chamfer, but more like a undercut. I am not 100% sure, but I don't really see any reason why any of that would cause a problem with a H series Clevite bearing. Just a MS2199 should do OK.

You can run any bearings you want to with the stock stuff. You can run H or P, chamfered, narrowed, or full width.

You MUST run chamfered or narrowed bearings with the aftermarket cranks since they feature a large fillet in the corners of the journals that the chamfer is made to clear.
