Default What is wrong?

For some reason my car dies over when it gets hot outside it seems. The last week here, the temperatures were i am, have been around 80 but now this week its been around 95 and for some reason my car when its been sitting for a little bit it starts up and goes but then about 5-10 minutes of normal driving it starts to die when im driving. I cant seem to figure it out, the car is good on engine coolent and the teperature guage has been staying constent on normal. So im thinking that maybe since it has got hotter outside, how would this affect my car? Because the past months it has been running fine when the temperature has been lower. Hope this makes since.

an old shool thought is vapor lock...

it's really hard to be able to help diagnose the problem with very few clues. No warning lights or anything come on it just quietly goes to sleep?

what happens is when i wake up to go to work when its still cool outside the car runs fine, but when i get off and its hot outside, it starts and goes, but then around 5-10 minutes later ill pull up to a red light and it drops down to around 500 rpms and then dies. Ill start it back up and go, but when i take off it still trys to die, only how i can keep it going is to stay high in rpms until i hit another red light and goes back down to 500 rpms and then dies again. It keeps doing this until i actually get home. But then if i take it out that night when its cool again, it runs fine. Just cant figure out whats wrong with it.

Maybe for some reason your fuel pump starts taking a dump in hot weather with the gas being less dense as well. Try checking it out.

I would bet its your fuel pump. These pumps are well known for going out if you run the tank to low on a couple of occasions. Your lucky if your ride will start back up or last more than a week if you go to low. Fuel pumps no likey not having gas.

it dies on idle and it starts bucking when i actually get it rolling. it seems like its fine if im high in rpms but when i shift it to a lower rpm is starts to buck and feels like its running out of gas.

If it starts and dies at ANY time it can still be the fuel pump. Bucking?

it like jerks back and forth like its running out of gas, but if i give it a lot of gas it takes off but then when it gets back to lower rpms it start doing that example like when im going down the highway at 70 in 6th gear.
