How many $$$ to clean, deck and torque hone an LS1??
I've located an 5.7L LS1 block to buy for my project (build a 383 stroker).
Next step will be to get it inspected, cleaned, decked (if necessary) and torqued deck honed.
The last thing I did that was even remotely similar to this was to get an old Ford 390 rebuilt to a fresh short block about 16 years ago. So I don't have any real recent experience to go on.
So, my question is - what's a fair/reasonable price for this assuming it's done by a reputable machine shop that does quality work?
Any recommendations in the SoCal area (San Diego, Orange County or LA)??
Thanks.

I can give you the breakdown of what we charge but it wont be a good comparison to a shop in your area.
True, it will be higher in SoCal, but it can't be that much more!?!?
Are we talking about $100's, or $1000's?
Thanks for for your insight.
up to .030 over $250
line hone $150-200
set deck to customer pistons and surface to correct for required quench $200'ish
balance 175-200
Hope this helps
