Default quick question

ok jsut a simple quick answer is all I need for this since its just an idea im pondering right now but anyhow...

Say I buy some stage 2 5.3L heads from TSPand go with the MS3 cam and use a stock head gasket; what length pushrod would I need? Currently have chromeoly 7.350's and would like to be able to reuse them, but won't if they are to short.

thanks

MS3 will be ground on a smaller base circle. Higher lift means the cams base circle is usually ground smaller. My cam with .651 required 7.450 pushrods i measured for. If you got the heads milled you would need shorter pushrods but not that much. Best way to check is buy the $20 pushrod checker from thunderracing.com or somewhere.

IIRC you already have a 228R so I would GUESS yes. Call TSP or better yet check.

I thought you lived in Fayettville? Maybe I am just Good luck!

There will be no extra milling done to those heads to allow sufficient piston to valve clearance. I'd say a 7.40-7.425" pushrod will be where you need to be with this combo.

awesome matt thanks for that.

Now heres a question jsut for you; Ive already got the double roller chain and ported oil pump all that good mess. So, the only thing I need is gaskets, some LS7 lifters, and longer pushrods BUT I think its cheaper to buy the H/C package but they arent the chromeoly PR's and there isnt an option for a PR longer than 7.4

Say in the near future I do buy it, would we be able to work out some type of "special" deal meaning instead of opting for the hardened 7.4's I could just pay the difference b/t those and the ones that come with the package?

Yes, you would still need the heads/cam bolt and gasket kit. The 7.425" or whatever length you need are the same price as 7.400"...I'll also get that option added to the website so people aren't limited to 7.400" on the heads/cam packages
