GC works well in extreme cold and in extreme heat! That's the beauty of this oil, it uses such a great base oil that it can flow very well on the coldest morning, but yet it's got a great HTHS number so it can handle heat very well.

I just found some GC at my local Autozone. I picked up 12 quarts because I have to do my car and the wifes. The first six quarts were the newest M06 formula. The next ones were all dust covered and were a mix of M04 and M03. There were also some non-german ones in there, but those bottles were very different than he German ones. I lucked out I think, because I think they had exactly 12 quarts of the good stuff. All the rest seemed to be the USA made 0-30. But, seeing as how the sky is leaking a ton today, neither car will get the new oil until it drys up a bit (no garage). Obviously, my vote goes to the GC. I'm also hoping that this oil is going to be ok in the wifes car, as it is recommended from the factory for M1 5-30. I'm thinking it'll be just fine though.

GC 0-30 after 3k miles on GTX 10w40 on a new motor ( via Patman ). Quieter now with the synthetic in. Plan to go 5-6K between oil changes.

i just purchased 0w-30 german castrol, at autozone. 7 bucks a qt, FYI. i just want to verify that this grade will be sufficent for both cold and hot. currently i reside in new orleans where it can get extreamly hot, but will be moving to baltimore soon where it can get pretty hot and pretty cold. just checking to make sure this weight of oil will work well on a stock LS1.

i took Patmans advice and have been running castrol syntec 5W-40 for the last 3 years and man, i have never had a problem with oil pressure, or oil consumption. my car has ran very well. But i plan on switching to castrol syntec 5W-30.

I ran rp fin my Z28 for 4 til I threw a rod, but in the heat of summer in south Texas it did thin considerably. Mobil 1 did ok in my truck, but it wasn't putting up the numbers the car was.

This is an old thread, ha. My car came with the Castrol Syntec package (big deal I know) and I bought it with 10k on it. The car had its oil changed 3 times before I got the car. I bought it 3 years ago and now has 38k on it. So it has always had some form of Castrol in it, and I have ran the German Castrol in all of the Camaros I have had. Oil pressure has always been great and uses very little. As long as my local ChinaZone sells GC I will always run that.

TXZ28LS1 your sig makes me laugh everytime I read it.

i have done a couple of searches on here and i might of over looked it but here is my question.

The guy i bought my my car from was running valvoline 10w-30, i am thinking about switching over to castrol syntec 5W-40. Just wondering if there is anything i need to do to clear out all of the valvoline, or is it ok for a little bit of the 2 oils to mix?

olld thread

I agree fully to what is said about M1 5/30...my car eats the stuff. It's a shame because I can get it for free..

I've run pennzoil platinum a few times and It seems like it holds up great..stays clean forever and my motor doesn't use a drop!
