I don't mind doing a stall, i just thought it'd be faster for my goals to leave it without one. Obviously not. I'm thinking a 4000 stall will be what im looking for then. I was just trying to get away without having to get one.

haha yea with a cam that big you need at least a 3800 stall, your car would be a absolute turd with out it. I wouldnt be suprised if you would get beat by a bolt on car with a stall with a cam that large and no stall.

At the same time the stall size really depends on the other mods you are planning, if you ever plan on nitrous you dont want as loose of a stall as you would if you were NA. But if this is a street car you are not goign to be spraying that much, as well you would want the highest stall you can stand for a cam that large.

I do plan on running nitrous. I will probably start with a 100 shot and work my way up to a 150 shot with a TNT wet kit.

A yank 3600 will be a good converter if your gonna spray frequently if just every now and then get a 4k.
Trust me Ive had both. I had better ets w/ the 3600 and spray. On motor ets were better w/ the 4k.

Hope this helps.

A quality converter alone will make the car quicker and A LOT more fun to drive than just a cam will, no matter what size cam. It will completely eliminate the flat spot you feel from a 30-40MPH punch (which would still remain with just the cam) - instead, you'll be fighting for traction and once you hook the car will take off like you were rearended by a truck.

To add more info to this, i will be getting a MS4 cam. I debated between three (MS3, MS4 and a T-Rex). I feel as though the T-Rex is just a little too large and that the MS3 and MS4 are so close in driveability, that i might as well go with the slightly larger cam. I will also be adding a TNT wet kit sometime soon, probably starting with a 100 and working my way up to 150. I do race my car but it is always from a roll. A stall would only slow me down from a roll, hince the reason why i do not want to get a stall. If i were a stoplight or track racer, then i'd be all over a 4000 or higher stall. I also know that the car will try and push through the brakes at stoplights, but i figure if it really pushes that hard, i can always just put the car in neutral at a stoplight.

If i am misinformed that the car with a stall would be slower from a roll, please inform me. Any insight to this would be appreciated.

lol..

I will spray but it will probably only be a few times a week. I will still probably only go to the track once or so. I'm thinking maybe 3800 and go in between.

I made this thread to ask a question. I didnt know if a stall was something i HAD to have. Sorry i decided to post a thread to get a definite answer to concerns about my personal setup. I'm not a track junky so E.T.'s aren't that important. I was just asking a question and now, thanks to this thread, i have decided to go ahead and get a stall as my next mod. If i hadn't made this thread i wouldve gotten a cam first and regretted it. So whats so funny about trying to learn from more knowledgable and experienced LS1 owners?

My advice, do more research. I thought the same thing when I first got into this. If you get the right converter id say your rpms would stay 1500-2000 higher between shifts. That is very crucial when talking about cams that make power up top.

A stall would be one of my first mods on a stock car, much less one that wants to shift near 7000 rpms. After you install your cam, start saving for your trans. The stock 4L60 does NOT like rpms.
