Other than cam, what would it take to make an LS1 reverse rotation?

Interesting.. You'd need a custom drivetrain too though, right?

it would probably be easier turning the motor around in whatever vehicle so that the front of the crank did the turning instead of the back.just a thought,im more curious as to why you asked the guestion though

He wants to be different. Everybody's got engines that turn clockwise, imagine what it will run going counterclockwise!

BTW, you would have to reverse the spark timing and make the starter turn the other direction to start it. And also reverse the injectors spray and the water pump and remove the tranny.

Hell leave it alone.......

Would need to figure out how to oil it since you can't switch the drive like an old sbc.

I don't know if anyone remembers, but when the LS1 was in testing they did a reverse rotation test. I can't remember if it was Wyotech, or someone else... They ran the stock engine on the dyno to redline, and then reversed it which produced over 900hp from the stock LS1. I remember seeing it, but don't remember the specs......

RIGHTTTTTTT..... How would turning the engine in the opposite direction gain 3 times the hp than stock. If that was true car companys would be running 2 cylinder reverse rotation 300hp 100mpg.

Well if he had a freshwater boat, or a salt water boat with a heat exchanger and wanted to repower it with a pair of LS1's one engine would have to run backwards.

Why would one have to run backwards? Curious, and if its needed for physical reasons why not just have the outdrive spin the prop the other way? Why reverse the whole engine? If its just for cooling , it can be dealt with much simpler I would think.

I'm not 100% sure but im pretty sure it has to do with the torque keeping the boat from running straight. It has nothing to do with cooling. LS1'a are aluminum and you can not run an aluminum engine in salt water unless you use a heat exchanger. Reverse rotational rotation is standard in dual engine boats, see below

You are exactly right. If you had to engines spinning the same way you would just be going in circles... or turning all the time to compensate. And you would never want to run an aluminum block (raw water cooled) in salt water, the salt and heat would eat the block to nothing. Personally I think a pair of LS1's in a boat with victor Jr. intakes and a carb setup would be one hell of a boat!!!
