Default Need help choosing a head/cam package

Hello,
i want to buy a head cam package for my 2000 ls1 camaro but the car is a street car and an automatic and i dont want a cam that is really rough at idle i just want to reach about 400 h.p with the head cam package. I also have a throttle body, MAF, headers, true duals, high flow lid, gears, and ls6 intake manifold.

If all you want is 400rwhp then you can skimp and go with just about any head/cam package like TSP, Patriot, etc if your stall isn't too big.

What I did was buy a used set of 04 Z06 243 heads for 350.00 and had those ported and polished (200.00/9 hrs),had them built w/ dbl sprngs, tit ret, crmly psh rds ect...had melling oil pump, underdrive pulley, installed and went with a real mild cam hr269 comp cam. It idles smooth and I have 379 rwhp so with a mild cam youd be tapping 400 easy.
The whole deal in parts and material was 800.00 out the door.

you can get very close to 400rwhp with just a cam and bolt-ons.
SEARCH TR230 or X1 cams

I'll pm you with some options. You have a lot of choices. You need to set a budget and go from there now that you have your goal set.

I really like my Patriot 243s and the TR224-112. I think it rus ~ 400rwhp. You could go with the TR224 on a 114 lsa to smooth out the idle some. Pulls hard, great street cams.

TSP ms3/5.3 2.5s and find yourself a GOOD tuner and it'll drive really well. Two people at my work bought this kit at the exact same time, both did into the 410-425 range!! One was A4 other was M6.

You can't beat the tr224 cam for good all around garanteed cam.If you want a smooth idle.get the 114 version.Their are a lot of really good heads out their, patriot, prc, trickflow, darts that will work for you if you are on a budget. You should be able to get 400 rwhp on that setup, with the supporting mods and a good tune. The 228 to 230 range would give you more. They are cool too.

I would put a stall on a stock cam, and definately on any heads/cam package.
