Default gouge on head sealing surface

I am about to install some patriot stg 2 ls6 heads but noticed that there is a gouge on the top sealing surface to the valve cover. It is on the high side of the head and shouldnt see alot of oil but was wondering if you guys think i should just use a silicon or high temp rtv or something like jb weld to fill in the gouge.I am concerned that if the jb weld ever gave way something bad would happen but am not sure if rtv will seal properly. Thanks for any tips.

you're probably fine with just the rtv. I seriously hope that you never get enough oil up in the heads to make it to the level of the valvecovers (besides normal spray)!

I am concerned about the spray, i was thinking about forming some rtv in the gouge, letting it dry and then putting the valve covers on. Hopefuly i will not have a leak. The gouge is pretty deep...

You can use some gasket maker or silicone. I had to use some on my old car and the grey gasket maker worked great!

Show us a picture of it. You could have it welded then grind flush

If you want to do it right take it to a reputable machinist and then just have him use an end-mill and go around the whole top of the head taking the material down 'til it's completely smooth.
