Pulled the heads tonight... and I now have tiny valve reliefs!!!!! They are REALLY small... more like a bit of carbon knocked off the piston. Gonna be replacing the heads very soon with a set of stock heads with a 3 angle valve job on em. I'll post some pics once I get them up.

 

were your heads milled? my friend is going to be running a cam close to that... so i wonder if he will have problems?

 

Nope... heads werent milled. Advanced the cam 2*... and they barely tapped unfortunately.

Well... I knew it happened on ONE when I turned it over by hand at 4*. Apparantly 2* is just BARELY too much advance as well. I didnt feel any hesitation when I turned it over by hand on 2*. So, I was kind of surprised when the other 3 pistons on the pass. side were "reliefed".

If you could feel 4 tapping just when you were turning it over by hand, there's NO WAY you shoulda run 2. Just think, you were turning everything at what...5 rpm by hand? Now imagine what happens at 5000 rpm...things will get flung around a bit more.

Ah well, at least the damage was minor. Sounds like you'll be back on the road soon..a lot of LS1's I've seen had the little "ghetto valve releifs" like you have so its not totally uncommon.
