I heated my crank pulley to 200 degrees in the oven for 40 minutes. Rubber harmonics inside of it never melted of even got tacky. Then i banged it on with a 2x4 and hammer probably 7/8 of the way and used the bolt the rest of the way. Runs fine for me. I'm sure if i heated it to 250-300 it would have gone on all the way. It doesnt require that much force to bang on when warm, and i highly doubt it's going to get distorted at those temperatures as im sure it sees around 200 being in contact with the crank as it is.

Yeah it is awesome. Keep it don't lend it to anyone, I let a member here use it, when he shipped it back the large bolt was bent just a little and now it won't turn with out using to wrenches.

I did mine at like 350-400ish for like 15-25ish minutes it went right on, almost too easy. That extra bolt was worthless.

I've only done 5 LS1 cam swaps thus far, but I've never experienced the problems with the harmonic balancer that seem to be described by others. I use a cheap (AUD$30) 3-jaw pulley puller and a longer bolt with a large washer to get the balancer back on - works every time.

Cheers,

Macca
