I would put an underdrive pulley on it. The pulley is a bitch to get off and put on, now is the time to do it. And get the right tools for this job, it's the hardest part and you don't want to strip the crank threads. Make sure you get the belts to go with it. I would also consider an oil pump. Lifters are a good idea if yours have alot of miles on them but you have to pull the heads to change them which is obviously alot more work.

OH, and make sure you have a good selection of tools, a laptop with internet connection in the garage, and a case of beer.

I would add a UD pulley and a LS6 oil pump as stated above, you can find low mile LS6 pumps for ~$50 and a used balancer for ~$100

PORTED!! that what i did and i have the same cam as you. but i did take a hit to the rear and got the lifter tools from thunder racing they worked real good but for the money who knows? just make sure if you take the chance and just let the lifters sit up on their own make sure that you let the car sit and giv the oil time to drain off that will help them stick. good luck and post up a vid so I can hear that cam

I would highly recommend new lifter with 150K on the clock and also spend $30 and buy an ARP crank pulley bolt to replace the stock TTY bolt.

I bought it from 2xLS1 over 4 years ago but don't think he sells them anymore.

I've seen posts stating 618HAWK sells them. Send him a PM. Worthwhile investment.

Since your car has high mileage and you are considering replacing lifters (pulling the heads), I would save a little extra and get the heads ported too. There are some good budget heads out there.

really thinking about it, there is a guy here in town that dose really good work for about $500 hand ported. is it worth porting my 853 or shoul i look in to a stage 1 ls6 or a 5.3 head. i am looking a 420hp and about 400 torque with a 150 wet shot on top.

The tool form 618HAWK is the bomb. I would go to AutoZone and rent the Chrysler harmonic balancer puller it works on the stock pulley like a dream I used that and the tool from 618HAWK and the pulley was the easiest part of my cam swap. Get a real strong magnet to grab the valve locks when you are compressing the springs.
