need a cam with stock heads well I'm in the market for a cam what's the bigest cam I can run with my set up and also a friend of mine has a set of LS6 heads that I might be getting also what should I do

Re: need a cam with stock heads well, personaly i would look into what you want, your going to hear this. You should think, what idle characteristics you want, sleeper, soft loap, or brain rattling loap. Do you want a cam more based around mid to high torque, or high HP #'s. Personaly i would go with the 224 cam from thunder, you will pull a little more out of a 114 lsa b/c it redlines a little higher, but you will get a little more torque form the 112. But if you get the ls6 heads, i would look into somthing with some more lift. I personaly favor standard split, but a single patern like the 224 will do good.
First think of what you want, then brows some of the cams on the sponsers. Or check out the used cams in the for sale add. I got mine for 250, and its 500 from LG.

Re: need a cam with stock heads i boughtt the cam mentioned above, the thunder racing 224/224 112 lsa cam. It was the best cam for what i was looking for. I am using stock heads with all the bolt ons. I drive the car a lot. I wanted the most mid and high power i could get, with the most lope, without sacraficing drivability. I have to run the A/C and i dont have to pass emissions so i had to take that into account too. I already had a 3.73 gear so getting into the power quicker will help as well.

224/224 .563/.563 112 LSA
The Cam i got was
224.7/224.2 .563/.561 111.1 LSA

Smogable I can get you over 400RW with an LS6 intake & off-road exhaust no problem.
None-smogable..... The limit is Piston to Valve clearance. Hehehehe

Re: need a cam with stock heads I run a custom that 93PONY spec'ed for me. Its a mild reverse split that is smogable and idles smooth at 750. I had it dynoed before tuning and made 395 RWHP and 378 RWTQ. I just got it tuned and am going to install a better exhaust. I should be over 400 and still smogable if I install the cats.
