Default installing tips for a gen III to a GenIV

Gen3 to Gen4 install
1. Make sure your knock sensors are the same size threads if not have them tapped to match your current sensors.
2. If your going to use your stock oil pan sent it to your builder and let him space and clear the windage tray oil pan and pickup tube and even tap the knock sensor holes if needed
3. make sure you have all the wiring adapters you will need
4. a little grinding on the motor mount may be required
5. If you do not already have a keyed harmonic balancer you will need one as L/92 LS3 are keyed
6. if you have a 2 line fuel rail you will need a 1999 filter regulator for the new single line fuel rail. I put mine were the stock filter was. My psi at the fuel rail is 58 and @ WOT I have 58-61 psi
7. My LS1 valve covers did not clear the valves so I used the GM performance ones
8. If you have a dealer install the motor prepare a contract of what you expect them to do and if they can plug in their computer to your car and definitely do not let them start or drive the car if you are doing the tuning.
9. Use the very best lubricants such as GM EOS and oil that has the older standard non synthetic oil(use an oil with high zinc and sulfur for the break-in period)
!0. Check all your bolts and gaskets before you drive the car or pay for the work. (IE: manifold, headers for leaks and loose or stripped bolts, cats o2 sensors tight and not crossed over or laid on the exhaust, Fluid levels, the right anti freeze , air conditioner is working properly ect) also check and document your mileage before the work is done and after.
Your car will be will be faster. My dealer took my car out for several rides, they cant help themselves, even though I had a contract and put several stickies all over the car do not drive and do not plugin.
It is a big change and you will have to educate yourself.
Good Luck,
rookie
