Default heads torque

i was torquing down my heads with info from ls1howto.com and i read that the specs were 30ftlbs than 50 than 70 but now i see that is with ARP headbolts and i have gm headbolts so do i need to go back and retorque them i just want to know before i go much more i don't want to have to take everything back apart thanks for all you help

Are the heads already completely bolted on? If not, you can just back them off and re-torque them with the correct specs and sequence. If they are already tightened, you might want to get new ones and start over. The factory bolds are torque to yield (one time use).

These are the 2000 Corvette, 5.7L specs:

Cylinder Head Bolts (First Pass all M11 Bolts in Sequence)
30 N·m
22 lb ft

Cylinder Head Bolts (Second Pass all M11 Bolts in Sequence)
90 degrees

Cylinder Head Bolts (Final Pass all M11 Bolts in Sequence-Excluding the Medium Length Bolts at the Front and Rear of Each Cylinder Head)
90 degrees

Cylinder Head Bolts (Final Pass M11 Medium Length Bolts at the Front and Rear of Each Cylinder Head in Sequence)
50 degrees

Cylinder Head Bolts (M8 Inner Bolts in Sequence)
30 N·m
22 lb ft

If you don't want the hassle with the GM bolts that require degree torquing, just buy a set of arp bolts now and replace them one at a time in the torque sequence.

Since your rotation beyond the first torque on the GM bolts is unknown, remove them and replace them or switch to ARP's. I would not re-use as the material condition is now unknown (you don't know if they have been stretched or not and iof so how much).
