ok so back to the original poster now thats setteled, what iron blocks should i be looking at cause i want numbers as close to each other in the stroke and bore as possible to keep thing balanced. i know that might not be an issue i just read in another post that larger stroke than bore can cause problems. i am going to bore the block i get and i will stroke it as well but if yall have any preferences on blocks and their differences between them let me know.

if all you will be using is the block then any 6.0 will work. there will be no problems with a 4" crank, its when you go over that you start running into problems.

sweet fill me in on understanding the stroke and bore numbers cause that area is a little gray. take the stock bore of an LS1 which is 3.900 is that measured in inches or what same question for the stroke.

Yeah, the 3.905 bore and 4.000 stroke is in inches. bore is the diameter of the cylinder, stroke is how far the piston will move up and down in the cylinder.

not hatin on you man but you really might want to start out with some smaller mods before goin ***** out with stroker motors. maybe do some wrench time and learn some stuff, but thats why we are here is to help so carry on...

yeah i am not planning on going stroker till i blow this motor or get tired of it, i have a head and cam package i am going to put on here shortly but i am also wanting to spray it as well not shure what shot yet but something small for now like a 100 shot. would i have to lower my compression to use that or change my pistons? i was planning on bumping my compression up just a bit using cometics head gaskets not sure how much though but the spray wont be right off the bat and i didnt want to have to go back in and replace the head gaskets to run it if i did bump the compression up.

with spray you want high compression, with a sc or turbo you want low compression.

ok wasnt 100% sure i knew with forced induction you wanted the lower compression but was fuzzy about spray. how high can i bump the compression using thinner but reliable gaskets and still be in the clear of any problems.

That all depends on what heads and cam you are planning on using. Pretty much any cam other than the MS4 will allow for plenty of clearance on a 346 with stock pistons. If you ever want to know what your comp ratio will be with certain heads and pistons, give TSP a call. They can usually tell you in a few seconds.

well the overall lift of my cam with the stock ratio rockers will be .600" my springs are rated at .650" and they are a double spring setup so i have no worries there and the heads are reworked 241's(just the stock piece that have been fulle CnC'd ported and polished and a valve job done. i dont think i will have any problems with clearance(or come close to hitting) with the stock thickness gasket(dont even know what that is).

what are the specs of the MS4 cam?

.649/.609 239/242 111LSA

You won't have any clearance issues.
