If the head is backing up at .550, Most likely it is seperating from the SSR. This is common in about 90% of the lsx heads floating around. You can soften the vj in some cases, but in reality it is just a bandaid.

If you are looking for exact numbers...you will not find them. If you wish to have a consistent bracket car, the problem must be fixed though. I can tell you I fixed a set of ported 243 heads (touchup SSR and fix VJ) to additional material removal. Car is 2002 TA pretty much stock weight. Originally fastest trap was 121.4 after fixed first run off of the trailer 125.9. SSR started seperation @ .540 @ 28" / .490 @ 40". Customer has a T-rex cam (If I recall 61~ gross lift?)

The shop that is doing the work, do they specialize in heads? How much lsx experience do they have? I would make sure that whom ever fixes the heads, has fixed them before.

Good Luck
Dennis

He ports heads alot and also is a machine shop that builds a lot of dirt car engines.

He is the guy that ported my heads on my trans am that with stock runners , 2.02 valves on the intake and stock exh valves with bowl and short turn work put my car at 441/409 tq with a f 13 cam.

Very mild work that really worked.

IF these heads dont work out, I most likely will replace them as they have been milled to much for my liking. I picked them up for $400 so if they dont work with this cam I may try a lower lift cam or replace the heads with Darts or simular heads.

That truck intake might run out of steam in the upper rpm band, ie. where that cam is going to want to run. Being that light of a car, a LS6 intake would be a perfect addition.

I have a fast on my trans am and when the new street heat intake comes out I am going to get one for my trans am and put my ported fast on the Nova. Or just get a vic jr intake for the nova.

I am building this car on a budget and will add better parts as I go. My trans am trapped a best of 122mph at 3726 lbs. This motor should make simular power to what I was running and in a car that is over 1200 lbs lighter. Big tires, Race converter.

I dont see low 10's being much of an issue and if it does not reach my goals, I will change parts here and there. I am starting with what I have though to get it running.
