Default Question about motor life

Hi I am currently in the process of buying another 2002 Trans Am and I was wondering about the life of the motor. It has 43,000 miles on it right now and has a TR 224/224 .563/.563 112 LSA Cam in it right now. Do you guys think that cam would hurt a lot of the life of the motor? Also it is a 6 speed and has 4.10 gears in it. I am sure that those gears will hurt the life of the motor so I plan on putting 3.42's back into it.

Engine life should be fine. That cam is not an aggressive cam. Just be sure to check and/or replace the springs when needed. Other than that, 43K is very low miles, should be relatively problem free well into the 6 digit mileage.

LOL neither of those things will stress anything enough to break anything under normal circumstances.

HOWEVER

don't put drag radials on or sticky tires, or you WILL break the 10bolt rear end. Sticky tires + gear = broken 10 bolt.

The number one thing for engine life is oil changes. Change the oil on time and that thing will drive you for a long time.

that motor should last you 150k+ and the 4.10 will not hurt engine life. I would be more concerned that is has a proper tune and that all the services have been done to the engine.

Yea, don't worry about the 4.10's, 5th & 6th are both overdrive any way. If I ever do the M6 swap I am gonna go 4.10. The oil change poster was right, that is normally the biggest factor in wear on a streetcar. If the OP is good don't think twice about it.
