that's a pretty chancy thing to do in these economic times.

best bet is either a bank loan, or a credit card. maybe play the "balance transfer" game.

i actually bought a $10K boat on what is basically a cash advance check from my CC company. they offered 12months of 4.99% interest. we paid it off in the first year so it didn't collect any back interest (although they said it wouldn't. ended up only paying about $200 worth on interest on a $10,000 loan. not to shabby.

but honestly, if you can't afford it, don't buy it.

for something like modding your car...you should wait till you have the money before getting in over your head.

its different if you have to repaire something so it's driveable...but to mod a toy...

You bets bet is a personal loan from a bank if you dont have credit established already. You get a fixed rate and make one payment and dont have to worry about the CC company raising the rate. The interest is calulated over the period of payback not compounded every month adding to your debt.

You build credit that way as well. If you have steady employment you wont have trouble with the bank.

save up for it and pay with cash. it will cost enough $$$ the way it is, why pay more to interest as well...?

Dont loan for mods; not worth it. Wait till you have cash in hands and see if you still want it. Because theres no limit for mods, so you dont want to get a loan everytime you want to mod...

Ask me how I know?!! I tried it once and one of my friends is doing it since he has cars; hes not doing well from a economic point of view right now...hes still paying his last 3 cars mods today.

To me this is utter bs. I have done loan mods. You just have to have restraints within yourself to say "hey when this mod is done being paid for, then i can look for another, but only until then". You do this, and you'll be fine. I did it and dont look back, i built credit and drive a mean street machine.

Any sensible financial advisor will tell you if you can't afford to pay cash, you can't afford it at all. Mods on a loan are just silly. If you have a job, then save money. If you want mods and can't afford them with your job, take on a temp. 2nd job to save for.

The problem with taking out a loan for mods is what happens if you destroy the car or it gets stolen or worse, the motor grenades and now you don't have a way to get to work? Now you're left paying for mods on a vehicle that you don't have anymore.

Could I put a $10,000 motor on a credit card, sure, I could pay for it in cash, but at this time, it's not a wise financial decision considering that $10,000 could go towards other things that I use a lot more than my car.

The money being spent on mods should be disposable income, like money that you would take with you to a casino. Only spend what you can afford to lose.

We're working on offering financing to customers who'd rather pay-as-they-go rather than drop one large lump sum. I'm looking at a few different lenders and hopefully will have some results in the next week or so. We sell Trick Flow, AFR and nearly any other performance part you'd ever want or need.

Yeah guys pay mods with cash please. I'm still paying for mods on the EX-WIFE with a second job that I didn't want. I was happy with her stock equipment.
