Mike K. if you do not get those heads on your car I am going to buy them from you. I am tired of waiting for your ride to grace our racing scene..

Reading between the lines, I would guess that many of the "CNC'd" heads we are familar with on this board are actually fairly crude attempts compared to the level of expert machining your talking about.

To defend myself,In no way are the CNC heads available crude attempts compared to any level of expert machining.I personally have over 13 years of CNC machining.

Earlier in the start of this tread,it was stated a sponsor on this board did work that was not up to par.If you look at the sponsors to the right of the board,Patriot and TEA is not the only ones on this board performing CNC'D heads. The sponsor he is talking about is not on this board.

No attack on you intended Terry, as for TEA well I do have their heads on my car Do you control the accuracy of the machine work on Pat CNC'd heads to .00008 of an inch as mentioned above?

There are other CNC'd heads offered by several sponsers that do not have a connection with TEA or Pat. The following all offer CNC'd heads.

West Coast offers CNC'd heads

SLP offers CNC'd heads

SPDC offers CNC'd heads

Rapid Motorsports offers CNC'd heads

Thunder offers CNC'd heads, I think these are CNC Cylinder Heads from Flordia heads

Lingenfelter offers CNC'd heads

99 black bird T/A,
Yes they are others doing CNC.We are not performing work for any of the above sponsors. My main point being that the consumer not be fooled into thinking a DIRECT sponsor on this board performed the above mentioned work. That is not the case.

Yes, The equipment I have is accurate to .0008

I found some old S1 sheets from 00-01-02 here is one from WS6TransAmGirl, I have about 6 ,more to send out to be scanned. The next sheets are 422/391 in change SAE. This particular car went 11.90 in stock weight WS6, Z06 clutch.

http://207.127.219.37//images/jpr02.jpg

it has a slight tail to it, but you get the idea.

The old flow numbers were..

.100 72
.200 147
.300 212
.400 243
.450 268
.500 278
.550 280

With stock valves 10.6 compression, Comp 218/224 ll cam along with a very compact runner, the new S1.5's will most likely bump it up to 290 cfm but with 10.8 compression with the same runner size and I will post new flow numbers over this weekend.

JP

Terry, stop being so parinoid... need not post twice to get the point across.

Sorry Joe,
I will leave that subject.I agree it is very difficult to take a model and make it the same as the original. But it can be performed by the right folks.

i dont think he ment WALMART as in cheap work, rather a cookie cutter mold of what heads are/should be, machine work is awsome, but i have to hand it to the by hand porting if its done by a master..either way your goona pay out the wazoo. core heads are around 250-400, poerted stageX cost 1500-2k WTF....if it were done by hand then i can see the man hrs... but a machine... you program and push a button. blah blah blah the cost of the machine, you sell heads for 1k CNC'd and youll sell more hence still pay for the machine... anyway, props to the hand ported, i agree it is a lost art/ dying breed.

As I have said before...no one is bashing CNC heads...so this going back and forth about on the accuracy of CNC machined heads in a post that is meant to advertise a JPR Product. If there is continued debating about this it needs to be done in a different post.

JPR S1.5's Will be as always hand ported. with new and upcoming marketing on the fore front I am confident that these heads will benefit the consumer who wants to put down numbers on a budget consistently....

Thank You for everyone's continued support.

Soon Vince I will have them on honest . It just sucks that I have to use my 224 (p/v clearance) with the HVLD heads when I need something bigger. Maybe one day I can win the lotto and get a nice forged block like you have with valve reliefs.

You do not need to win lotto Mike. You know I know how much you make.. I use to work for the same company.. Now stop being so cheap..

Sorry about getting carried away with the CNC related questions.

As for the "Walmart" approach, I don't think anyone should really bash it. Walmart has lot's of very happy customers and very unhappy competitors, so there is something to be said for that model.

Likewise, JPR is in touch with the market to come up with the JPR S1 idea. While I remeber the S1's from a while back, I don't real some of the details, like which springs & retainers, valves etc. Merlin can you provide additonal details?

Joe, I just picked up a Thunder 224/224 112 LSA cam with all the valve train goodies. I have also noticed that over the last year or so many have been moving on to much larger cams. I however MUST maintain absolut drivability with my set up but ofcourse will be looking for the optimum in performance when i put the hammer down now and then. Im thinking your new S1.5 heads will be right down my valley for higer compression, higher flowing heads with the least ammount of material removed. If you need a project car for these, you got it, only thing as cheap as these things are going to be compared to what most heads cost i will still need to get them on a GP to swing it. GL, im looking forward to it.

I can tell u 1st hand that Joe's heads work and very well I might add.I ran them on MY 00 WS6 with a TR224 (had to talk Joe into that one )He was still into small cams.Funny how the 224 is considered middle of the road now.

Anyway,My car was setup for DRAG RACING...
We had a LS6 intake,PTB,Macs,ORY,Cutout,Cartek Tuning,ASP,etc...

We also took weight out in strategic areas.
Cars weight about 3430 with Joe's little TOOKASS in the seat.In the good air (DA's around -800/-1300) we ran CONSISTANT 11.30's/11.40's@118+

The car idled PERFECTLY,Snarled almost.
It never died and cold started perfectly too.
The funny thing was this was only the 2nd or 3rd set of heads Joe had ported (S1) for the LS1.They had STOCK GM valves, only 10.4CR and a basic 3 angle valve job.

IMO that setup kicked *** and I'm confindent I couldve gotten it to run even better with a few more tricks.I shoudve never sold that set of heads/cam.I could always kept it for another motor but I did.Joe gave me a great deal on the parts in the 1st place and I figured he should get them back so he bought them back...

I dont know where this is going but I'll say Joe/Tommy do very good heads.I'd run them again if the situation presented itself but I would still pick the cam

I dont know what else to say..
Most of Joe's customers are street guys with the exception of Silver T/A,Bob2of3.And bob wont have his car out until it's set on kill.I bet that sucker shocks the LS1 world but I havent heard anything about him,Is the motor fired up yet?

Look, pick your poison and stop the us vs them crap. Its a waste in futility and this is supposed to be fun.

TEA,Patriot,Cartek,JPR,MTI,MMS,TR,Futral,SAM,ARE all have good products.Just run the one YOU think is right for YOU!!!!

Personally I like TTR "SAM" setup...
Hopefully he will adopt me...
