when I pulled my stock lifters the holes were every which way. I think when I installed the new ones I put the holes to the back.

I'm in the same boat right now. The way I see it, the lifter tray will only allow them to be installed one of two ways. Holes up or holes down. Down seems to be the right way. Can anyone verify?

It makes no difference, the entire lifter bore is pressurized with oil under operation.
